As a Southern transplant (i.e. I moved from Michigan at age 5), I know what it’s like to live in a world where it feels like summer for more than half of the year, which I love! High temperatures and humidity, however, mean a lot of sweat, frizz, and other non-ideal bodily reactions that can get in the way of your typical beauty routine. Fortunately, there are a lot of good products that can help you feel fresh and beautiful all summer long!
CoverGirl TruBlend Primer
This product feels light on my skin, and makes my face velvety smooth. I use this product before I put on my BB cream and makeup. As someone with oily skin, I am so thankful for this product because I have yet to use a single oil blotting wipe since using it!
Nyx Cosmetics Matte Finish Makeup Setting Spray
I apply this product after putting on my makeup, and it helps my makeup stay in place for a longer period of time. My top-notch recommendation for a product like this is Urban Decay’s All-Nighter Makeup Setting Spray, but with a $30 price tag it is not always in my budget. I think this Nyx spray is a good, cheaper alternative at only $7.99.
Nivea In-Shower Smoothing Lotion
Where I’m from, it can get so hot and humid during the summer it feels almost impossible to dry off completely after taking a shower. This makes it a huge pain to put on lotion after exiting the shower… then I found this product! After cleansing your skin in the shower, apply this product as you would a typical lotion, then rinse it off. I still apply a typical lotion later when I am completely dry, but this product at least takes care of my post-shower skin hydration.
Tree Hut Shea Sugar Scrub- Marula & Jasmine
For many of us, summertime means wearing shorts… and shaving our legs more often. I find that using a sugar scrub before shaving makes the smoothness last longer. This scrub is well-priced, and this scent is absolutely amazing!
Garnier Fructis Sleek & Shine Intensely Smooth Leave-In Conditioning Cream
I normally avoid styling my hair during the summer and wear it naturally wavy for a beach babe vibe (or maybe because I am lazy…). This product makes my hair soft and frizz-proof, and it is the holy grail of my summer hair products! I use this product on my damp hair and let it air dry.
Redken Pillow Proof Blow Dry Express Primer
For the times I do actually style my hair, this is my holy grail hair product! Not only does it make my blow-dry look salon fresh, it also keeps my hair smooth and frizz-free. This product is $24, but absolutely worth it and I find that it lasts me for quite a while.
Garnier Fructis Style Flexible Control Anti-Humidity Hairspray- Strong Hold
Another Garnier product, another summer hair styling essential. I love this hairspray because it acts great against the humidity, and it holds your style in place without making your hair feel stiff or sticky.
